Manual Handling

Manual Handling

Manual Handling is a half-day course, approved by the National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS), for individuals who are required to manually move items, or those who supervise the movement of items, within their workplace. The course can be tailored to suit the needs, work environment and sector of those attending, which is specifically useful for those who move awkward or many different loads.

What to expect:

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to manually handle loads in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Act 1999 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998. They will:

  • Gain an understanding of the common causes of lifting injuries and how to avoid them
  • Gain practical experience with manual handling techniques
  • Have the ability to conduct a manual handling risk assessment.

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be provided with a NPORS Card (fee required) or Parallel Training certificate as proof of qualification.
