Accredited by the National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS), this course is suitable for individuals with all levels of experience in operating excavators (including mini excavators (1 tonne), excavators above and below 10 tonnes, wheeled or tracked excavators, and 180 or 360 excavators) and available in the following formats:

  • Basic Course for novices and delegates with limited experience (1 to 10 days)
  • Refresher Course for delegates who have evidence of excavators operations or previous training (1 day)
  • Experienced Worker Test for delegates with extensive excavators experience (1 day)

What to expect:

By the end of the course, delegates will have a thorough understanding of the relevant operational and safety requirements applicable to excavator operators, working in the construction industry and allied environments. The course includes:

  • Introduction to the machine
  • Control familiarisation
  • Pre-start checks and basic maintenance procedures
  • Basic driving procedures and practice
  • Use of hydraulic controls
  • Parking procedures and practice
  • Road and site travelling procedures and practice
  • Excavating and digging procedures and practice
  • Trenching procedures and practice
  • Backfilling procedures and practice
  • Site levelling and ground consolidation procedures and practices

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be provided with a NPORS Card (fee required) or Parallel Training certificate as proof of qualification.
